Setup your site title or logo

When you perform a clean install of this theme, your default setting is to show a Site Title in your header instead of a logo. Because of this theme’s design, it was created to use a text based title in the main header area while keeping the logo to the left vertical column.

NOTE If we get calls for having a logo in the site title area, we can add this option to a future update of the theme.

Currently, you have the following options available:

  1. Site Title
  2. Site Title with Site Tagline
  3. Tagline
  4. Logo
  5. Logo with Site Title and Tagline
  6. Logo with Site Title
  7. Logo with Tagline

What you decide is going to be up to you. If you decide to use a logo, I would recommend that you don’t make it too large but large enough that it fits in the left vertical columns. The demo website for Incept has a logo image that is 120 pixels in width. Please be aware that this logo image is responsive, so it will downsize to fit mobile devices.

Enable or Disable the Site Title or Tagline

You can disable either the site title or the tagline (or both) by using the following settings:

*A checkmark means either one will show.

show title tagline

Change the Site Title

  1. Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Site Identity
  2. In the “Site Title” field, change this to your own
    incept title setting
  3. You can also adjust the site title’s top spacing to create a balanced layout with a logo, or even just to adjust the title. This is done in pixels, so for example, to have 12 pixels spacing, just enter in 12 into the field without the px part:
    incept sitetitle position
  4. Click “Save & Publish

Change the Site Description (Tagline)

  1. Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Site Identity
  2. In the “Tagline” field, change it to your own
    incept tagline setting
  3. Click “Save & Publish

Add a Logo

When you upload your own logo, make sure it’s not too big. I recommend the height does not exceed 120 pixels in width. As it was previously noted, your logo will be responsive, which means it will downsize itself to fit in the vertical column space made available. File format can be either a jpg or png for best results. This is the result we will get once uploaded and when we customize our logo settings:

NOTE When uploading a logo, this will automatically disable the text based site title.

  1. Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Site Identity
  2. Look for the Site Logo setting and click on the “Select Image” button to upload your logo:
    select image logoincept logo uploaded
  3. If you are happy, click on the “Save & Publish” button at the top of the customizer.
