Change the Site Title and Description or upload a Logo

After installing Influential, the default setup should be the title and the tagline description, but you have a few options:

  1. Site Title & Tagline – Text based title and site description
  2. Site Title – You can hide the tagline and just go with a title
  3. Logo – You can opt in for just a logo
  4. Logo with tagline – You can have a logo above your Site Title & Tagline
  5. Logo with title and taline – Include all three elements

The live demo site shows the site title, tagline, plus a logo which is automatically placed to the left. You may need to create some custom CSS if you need to move it.

Logo Size

If you are using just the logo only and no text title and tagline, your logo size can be almost any size you want. The logo container does have a limit, but any image that sits inside will reduce in size if the logo is very large; especially for responsive mobile viewing.

As a guideline, if you are using a logo beside the title and tagline, such as the demo site shows, you don’t want to have a logo that is too large. The demo site uses a logo that is 40×40 pixels. You can obviously go a bit larger if you wish, but it’s going to be more of playing around with the right size to fit your site’s needs. You may need to create some custom CSS to make adjustments as everyone’s logos will vary greatly.

For logos that won’t use the text title and tagline, your logo size can be bigger, and up to 50% of the width of the header area. Height can be almost anything, but I do recommend keeping it within reason. I wouldn’t go more than 100px at maximum.

Uploading a Logo

  1. Prepare your logo image – I would recommend a transparent logo so that the background shows up behind it. The size you choose should fit within the column area.
  2. Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Site Identity
  3. Click on “Select image“, browse or upload your logo. For this tutorial, we will use a big M as our logo.

  4. When uploaded, you should see something like this:
  5. Although limited, you can adjust the logo margins (spacing) using pixels. The default setting is 0 6px 0 0 which means 0 px at the top, 6px on the right, 0px on the bottom, and 0px on the left.
