An introduction to the top bar area

Although limited and content that is specific, some people may want to take advantage of the top bar area for adding elements such as a telephone number, email, or perhaps a sign-up and login link. By default, these should be disabled until you add your information into the customizer fields that are set aside for the top bar.

  1. Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Top Bar Options
    topbar tab
  2. Fill out the fields based on what you want to show for the left and right sides of the top bar area. When you fill in the fields, each one is automatically displayed on the front-end of your site. If left blank or the content deleted, those elements will disappear from the front.

Adding Links – HTML

You will notice that two of the fields include HTML code for the links. Please keep it to link HTML as you see, and for the link that is represented by the # symbol, simply replace it with the actual link (hyper link) to the item. For example, if you are setting up a login link, enter the full URL of the page where the person will log into.

NOTE The positioning of the elements on the front-end are fixed in the positions they exist, so if you need to move them, you will need to use a child theme to modify the template file “header.php
